Symbol scavenger review

Recall and correctly identify the national and state symbols, holidays, and citizenship ideas from this unit.

This week is a symbol scavenger hunt: a fun way to review everything you have learned about flags, landmarks, California symbols, money, holidays, and good citizens.

A scavenger hunt works by following a clue to find or remember something. Each clue this week points to one symbol or idea from this whole unit.

📋 For the teacher
Teach it (10–15 min):
  • Turn this into a real scavenger hunt at home: hide small clue cards, or just ask the clues out loud as a game.
  • Include a real object hunt if you can: find a coin, find a calendar with a holiday marked, find something California-shaped.
  • Celebrate how much your child has learned this unit -- flags, landmarks, state symbols, money, holidays, and citizenship.
  • If any clue stumps them, go back to that specific week's idea for a quick refresher rather than just giving the answer.
Talk about it:
  • Which symbol or idea from this unit was easiest to remember?
  • Which one was trickiest?
  • What is your favorite thing you learned about being a citizen?

Mastery looks like: They correctly identify most of the unit's symbols, holidays, and citizenship ideas during the scavenger review.

Common stumbles: Mixing up national symbols with California state symbols, or forgetting which hero goes with which holiday.
